Hardware Short-Circuit in Discharge Configuration Prot OC Config SHORT-CIRCUIT IN DISCHARGE (VSCD) SETTING [SCD] 0 73 mV (default) 1 148 mV 8.3.4.4 PROTECTION SYNCHRONIZATION The bq27743 includes an optional protection synchronization feature for dual battery systems using the PSC and PSD pins, where the PSC pin is used to synchronize the charge FETs and the PSD pin is used for the discharge FETs between the two devices in the system. The PSD and PSC pins are dual purpose pins used in conjunction with the HDQ and INT pins and are configured by Pack Configuration [PS_EN] where: [PS_EN] 0 HDQ/PSD is used as the HDQ pin and Protection Synchronization is disabled. INT/PSC is used as the INT pin and Protection Synchronization is disabled. 1 HDQ/PSD is used as the PSD pin and Protection Synchronization is enabled. INT/PSC is used as the PSC pin and Protection Synchronization is enabled. It is recommended to set Pack Configuration [SLEEP] = 0 to disable SLEEP mode when [PSEN] = 1. This will enable the reaction timing to be consistent. When the device FET state changes, either because of hardware or firmware protection, then the PSC and PSD pins change based on the following table: CHG FET DSG FET PSC PSD ON ON Input Input OFF ON Output Low Input ON OFF Input Output Low OFF OFF Output Low Output Low 8.4 Device Functional Modes 8.4.1 Operating Modes The battery protector has several operating modes depending on a variety of conditions.
